Wine

Penfolds Grange was first made on an experimental basis in 1951 by Max Schubert.

Having toured Europe in 1950 Schubert implemented winemaking techniques he observed in Bordeaux, aiming to create a red wine able to rival the finest Bordeaux wines.

Grange is both Penfolds and arguably Australia's most famous wine and is officially listed as a heritage icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the first bottling in 1951.

Grange clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climate of South Australia. It is the original and best expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending winemaking.

Crimson purple, Penfolds Grange displays fully ripe and intensely flavoured Shiraz and some Cabernet, perfectly balanced in new American oak.

A unique Australian style recognized as one of the most consistent of the world's great wines. Cellaring potential is 30+ years.
