1960 Grange
Vintage reviews
Grange production officially resumed with this vintage, following a company order in 1956 to stop. In fact Max Schubert had defied the order and continued to produce Grange in secret for three years from 1957–1959.
Penfolds 1960 Grange are labelled Bin numbers 49 and 95.
Shiraz (92%), Cabernet Sauvignon (8%). Eighteen months in used American oak hogsheads.

90/100
A blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine showed a dark garnet color with moderate amber at the edge.
Notes of prune, mint, coffee, caramel, molasses, and some sweet cherry and berry fruit are present in this full-bodied, intact, succulent Grange that is still fresh, with no traces of oxidation or decay. The wine is round and complex as well as delicious, with full body.
Drink it over the next 6–7 years.
