1996 Grange
Vintage reviews
Sourced from the Barossa, McLaren Vale, Magill and Padthaway. Shiraz (94%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%).
An exceptional vintage both in quality and quantity. After the drought conditions in 1995, much needed rains replenished the soils during the winter across most of South Australia.
The growing season was dry and mild, allowing the grapes to set and mature slowly resulting in ripe, complex, elegant fruit.
Matured in 100% new American oak for 19 months.

The 1996 Grange is not the blockbuster it can be in the greatest vintages. At one time, this was the most renowned wine produced in Australia. While this remains one of Australia's finest wines, it has plenty of competition.
The dense ruby/purple-colored 1996 Grange exhibits aromas of sweet blackberry/cassis, tar, licorice, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, with sweet tannin, a velvety texture, and surprising elegance, it should age effortlessly for 15-20 years.
