In 2004 the Castelli family purchased their property overlooking Wilson's Inlet as a family holiday retreat. It came with a half built winery, and with wine in their Italian blood, the family decided to complete the winery in 2006.
In the 1970s Dr John Gladstones first identified the Great Southern for grape growing. Today Castelli Estate source fruit from some of the best Great Southern vineyards – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot from Pemberton; Riesling from Mount Barker; and Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon from Frankland River. Bringing traditional techniques together with a state-of-the-art facility, they tailor each wine to express its varietal and regional character.
Both Castelli Estate's premium Il Liris and Estate ranges are single vineyard. Empirica are their small batch artisan wines. An equilibrium of fruit flavour, structure, length and finish are the hallmarks of the Castelli style.
