Faced with the high cost of producing grapes, the McCutcheon, Judd and Wallis families joined forces. Their vineyards, ten minutes by tractor apart, inspired the winery's name and by 2000, Ten Minutes by Tractor was in business.
The three original family vineyards were planted in the early 1990s. Purchasing the McCutcheon vineyard in 2006, the new owners Martin and Karen Spedding have been the driving force that has built Ten Minutes by Tractor into the lauded winery it is today. Planted in 2016 the Spedding Vineyard is home to the Mornington Peninsula's first high density organic Pinot Noir. Organic viticulture is now increasingly practised across all vineyards.
Each of Ten Minutes by Tractor's vineyards produce a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for the Single Vineyard range. The Estate range blends home vineyard fruit. The winery's 10X range is sourced from externally managed Peninsula sites.
