Winery
While enjoying a bottle of Barolo aboard a cruise in 2005, wine aficionado Rob Mack had a 'wine-piphany'. Inspired, he traded his life in Sydney's corporate world for McLaren Vale and eventually established Aphelion with wife Louise in 2015.
First generation winemakers, Aphelion work hand-in-glove with growers nestled between the hills and sea in McLaren Vale, as well as surrounding regions. With diverse soils and a warm Mediterranean climate, McLaren Vale is especially well suited to the winery's signature variety Grenache, as well as the white variety Chenin Blanc. 'Aphelion' is an ancient Greek term meaning 'from the sun' – a concept that guides their minimal intervention approach to winemaking.
Aphelion's range is led by the Rapture, followed by their collection of single vineyard Grenaches. The Verdant, Confluence and Aromat – other styles of Grenache – are also highlights, as is the Pir Chenin Blanc.
