Confluence Grenache
Wine
Aphelion Confluence Grenache draws from Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. Most of the fruit is from bush vines planted in the late 1930s; the rest is from 1960s plantings.
All the fruit is handpicked. For fermentation, three quarters of the grapes are destemmed whole berries and the remainder left as whole bunches.
The wine is mostly free run juice with a small percentage of light pressings. It is aged in neutral French oak puncheons and foudre (large vats) for nine months, then blended and bottled without fining or filtration.
Ruby in colour, Aphelion Confluence Grenache has a red berry core, a long line of acidity and Aphelion's signature savoury finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
