Winery
Science teacher David Lloyd and his late wife Wendy purchased Eldridge Estate in 1995. In 2022, the Tutungi family bought the winery, bringing on board winemaker Steve Flamsteed and revamping the cellar door.
In altitude and climate the Mornington Peninsula site is similar to Burgundy in France. When designing the vineyard, David Lloyd optimized his clonal material, planting eight clones of Pinot Noir and six of Chardonnay. The quest for the perfect matching of clone to site is never ending. Believing in lutte raisonée ('reasoned struggle') the vines are watered only in the driest seasons: the best fruit comes from vines that struggle to survive.
Eldridge Estate's premium wines are the Clonal Blend and MV6 Pinot Noir. Wendy Chardonnay and Clone 1 Pinot Noir are also highlights. Attention to detail permeates everything in the vineyard and winery.
