Eldridge Estate Clone 1 Pinot Noir is made from a single clone of Pinot Noir David Lloyd had selected for him in Burgundy (the home of Pinot Noir) and imported via quarantine to Australia.
Known as Eldridge 1 the handpicked grapes are destemmed and the berries added whole for pre-ferment soaking. Fermentation with natural yeast is spontaneous and lasts 10 days. The ferment is plunged three times daily.
The ferment is then allowed to rest on skins for four days. After pressing, malolactic fermentation and maturation take place in French oak barrels.
Deep crimson, Eldridge Estate Clone 1 Pinot Noir is elegant with dark fruit flavours, silky tannins and lasting length. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
