Jenny and Kevin McKay founded Forester Estate in northern Margaret River in 2001. Inspired by a cycling tour of France in the Loire Valley, the McKays added a French castle façade to their winery in 2007.

Forester Estate mainly source fruit from their own vineyard at Yallingup. The property runs north-south up the eastern flowing Wildwood Valley. Influenced by the shallow, warm water of Geographe Bay it sees lower rainfall and more sunshine hours than the southern Margaret River. This produces fruitier whites and more elegant reds. The winery also works with select growers. Small batch winemaking showcases the distinct character of northern Margaret River fruit.

Forester Estate's focal varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and to a lesser extent Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Only in exceptional years do they make their leading Yelverton Reserve label.
