Winery

In 2000 pharmacist turned winemaker Howard Matthews and agriculturalist Nicki Ralph founded Lane's End by purchasing a vineyard at the end of a winding country road near Lancefield in the Macedon Ranges.

The vineyard lies at 580 metres altitude on the southern slopes of the Great Divide. A virtually frost free site in Australia's coolest mainland region, it is perfect for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, their sole focus. The vines are unirrigated to limit yields and berry size, essential for intense, complex flavours. Since 2014 they have practiced organic viticulture. The wines are made in the Burgundian style with minimal intervention.

Lane's End's lead wines are its estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The L'autre Pinot Noir, Cottage Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Rosé are lower priced expressions of their signature varieties.
