Cottage Chardonnay
Wine
Lane’s End Chardonnay is sourced from the estate vineyard situated 580 metres above sea level in a mix of red Cambrian volcanic soils and grey loamy granitic soils.
The fruit is harvested from southern slopes at the foot of Mount William in the Macedon Ranges. It is then whole bunch pressed and partially settled overnight prior to fermentation.
In order to highlight the varietal fruit flavours, typically there is very little oak used – just enough to increase complexity and add structure. Lees stirring develops the mouthfeel of the wine with minimal oak influence.
Straw green, Lane's End Cottage Chardonnay has lashings of apple, citrus and spice with silky length. Cellaring potential is five years.
