Chardonnay
Wine
Lane’s End Chardonnay is sourced from estate vines planted in the mid-1980s high on the southern slopes of the Great Dividing Range – ideal for Chardonnay.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed. After partially settling overnight, the juice is transferred to French oak barrels, a portion new to balance the fruit's natural Macedon Ranges acidity.
Natural yeasts initiate fermentation. The temperature is kept at 18°C or lower to slow the ferment. Once complete, the lees are stirred every two weeks to add structure. Partial malolactic fermentation adds another level of complexity.
Bright straw green, Lane’s End Chardonnay is a fragrant, focused wine, driven by fruit upfront with an acidic backbone and creamy texture. Cellaring potential is seven years.
