Winery
Chatto began as the Tasmanian passion project of Jim Chatto and wife Daisy when they lived in the Hunter Valley. Jim was Mount Pleasant’s winemaker. Finding the right site, planting began in 2007. Their first vintage was released in 2013.
Pinot Noir is the signature variety. Their estate Isle Vineyard is at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley. Deemed to be right on the edge of viticultural possibility, it is situated in a luxuriously warm site in a usually very cool region. They also work with growers throughout Tasmania, starting with a tiny site neighbouring their Isle Vineyard and all the way north to sites in Pipers Brook and the Tamar Valley.
Chatto introduced their flagship Isle Pinot Noir after seeing the quality of fruit from pockets of their Isle Vineyard. The estate Intrigue Pinot Noir follows, as well as a collection of single vineyard wines.
