Bird Pinot Noir
Wine
Chatto Bird Pinot Noir draws entirely from the Bird Vineyard, located in Pipers River in north-east Tasmania. Tasmanian wine pioneer Dr Andrew Pirie planted the vines in 1998.
The wine is made from 114 Clone Pinot Noir fruit. The grapes are handpicked and hand sorted, then most are destemmed. A small percentage are retained as whole bunches. After fermentation, the wine matures in a mix of new and seasoned oak.
Crimson red, Chatto Bird Pinot Noir is a light bodied and bright wine with crunchy red fruit flavours. Cellaring potential is seven years.
