West Cape Howe was established in 1997 by Brenden and Kylie Smith. Since 2004 it has been owned by four Western Australian families including viticulturist Rob Quenby and former Plantagenet winemaker Gavin Berry.
West Cape Howe, named after Western Australia's southernmost point, is based at the Langton Vineyard in Mount Barker, home to some of the oldest vines in the Great Southern region. They also source grapes from Frankland River, Porongurup and the Perth Hills. Taking a wholistic approach to viticulture, West Cape Howe emphasize soil and plant health as natural deterrents to pests. Sustainable practices pervade their winemaking at every stage.
West Cape Howe focus on balance and structure in their wines. King Billy Cabernet Sauvignon leads. Other highlights include the Book Ends Cabernet Sauvignon, Two Steps Shiraz and Styx Gully Chardonnay.
