Mount Pleasant was established in 1921 by legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea. His belief in regionally distinctive, single vineyard wine endures. The business was acquired by the Medich family in 2021.
Set against the slopes of the Brokenback Range, Mount Pleasant is one of Australia's most treasured vineyard sites, dating back to the birth of the Hunter Valley. Old Hill Vineyard was planted in 1880; Old Paddock in 1921; Rosehill Vineyard, rich in volcanic loams perfect for Shiraz in 1946; Lovedale renowned for its Semillon in 1946. Maurice O'Shea created Mount Pleasant's first wines by the light of a gas lantern.
The Maurice O'Shea Shiraz and Lovedale Semillon stand out as benchmark Hunter Valley wines among a class field. Mount Pleasant also has an impressive lineup of single block, single vineyard wines.
