1921 Vines Old Paddock Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Mount Pleasant 1921 Vines Old Paddock Vineyard Shiraz is handpicked from the first vineyard planted by Maurice O'Shea: Mount Pleasant founder and father of modern Australian winemaking.
The Old Paddock Vineyard is a perfect site for Shiraz. It lies on Pokolbin's deep red volcanic loams where the vines can reach deep into the soil for nourishment. North-south rows shelter the vines from the afternoon sun and winds.
The fruit is destemmed into small, open top fermenters. Fermentation begins after a short cold soak. Post ferment, the wine is pressed to new and seasoned large format French oak for maturation.
Deep purple, Mount Pleasant 1921 Vines Old Paddock Vineyard Shiraz has intense, lingering fruit flavours, bright acidity and a fine tannin profile. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
