Wine
Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon is from the winery's Lovedale Vineyard which takes its name from the property's original owners, the Love family. The first Lovedale Semillon was made in 1950.
Maurice O'Shea planted the vineyard in 1946 just after World War II. With great foresight, he recognized that the land and surrounding environment would deliver the tightness and acidity for world class Semillon.
The grapes are destemmed and pressed off skins to stainless steel tanks for cold settling. Once racked, the juice is fermented with a neutral yeast at cold temperatures to promote and retain varietal flavours.
Shortly after fermentation the wine is settled, blended and gently fined before being filtered to bottle. The wine then ages for five years in bottle before being released.
Pale straw green, Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon has intense citrus flavours, driving acidity and a long, lingering finish.
A classic Hunter Semillon. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
