Dr John Rosenthal established the Rosenthal brand in 2001 after purchasing the Richings family vineyard in Manjimup. Friends and winemakers Coby Ladwig and Luke Eckersley have held the reins since 2012.

Rosenthal is now based at Denmark on the south coast of Western Australia. Believing great wine must come from great grapes, they work with vineyards across the Great Southern region to match each variety to its ideal conditions. Fruit for bigger red wines comes from warmer inland areas while earlier ripening varieties are grown in cooler climate areas. Rosenthal use a mix of traditional and New World winemaking practices to respect the unique characters of their grapes.

The Collector range is Rosenthal's top tier, made in a Cabernet and Chardonnay. The Richings range is not far behind. The Marker and Garten series are approachable expressions of Great Southern.
