Winery

Founded by Ken and Judith Helm in 1973, Helm Wines at Murrumbateman was one of the Canberra District's first commercial wineries. The cellar door is the historic Toual School House, inspiration for the school bell on the label.

Their inaugural 1977 release placed the region firmly on the map for quality Riesling. Helm Wines specialize in Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, from a number of cool climate sites. In addition to vineyards close to home, they have sites at Orange and Tumbarumba. Each produces grapes with unique character, delivered to bottle with minimal intervention. Since 2014 Ken Helm and daughter Stephanie have shared the winemaking.

At Helm Wines, winemaking is an art not a science. The Premium wines showcase the best of their benchmark varieties. Their Classic Dry Riesling and Half Dry Riesling show the variety in different lights.
