Winery
Formerly head of wine science at Charles Sturt University, Brian Freeman founded Freeman Vineyards at Hilltops in 1999. He started his venture boldly, establishing Australia's only plantings of Italian varieties Rondinella and Corvina.
Freeman Vineyards is 560 metres above sea level, the altitude ensuring cool nights during ripening and the hills to the north dry, sunny days. Over time the deep granite soils have combined with red, wind-blown silt and sand from Australia's Red Centre. They are well drained, providing ideal conditions for grapevines. Freeman Vineyards are also known for their Italian origin Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Prosecco, as well as traditional Hilltops red and white varieties.
Freeman Vineyards' Italian inspired portfolio sets them apart. Their lead is the Secco Rondinella Corvina. Other highlights include Altura Vineyard Nebbiolo and Sangiovese, the sweet Dolcino and sparkling Prosecco.
