Altura Vineyard Nebbiolo
Wine
Freeman Vineyards Altura Vineyard Nebbiolo is a blend of six Nebbiolo clones grown on the estate Altura Vineyard at Hilltops. The variety was grafted onto mature rootstock in 2008.
Originating from Piedmont in northern Italy, Nebbiolo derives its name from the word meaning 'foggy'. As in Piedmont, the grapes ripen in Hilltops' foggy autumn mornings.
The fruit is handpicked. After a short fermentation on skins, the wine is basket pressed and transferred to seasoned oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine matures for two years prior to release.
Deep ruby, Freeman Vineyards Altura Vineyard Nebbiolo is a savoury, medium bodied wine with underlying fruit sweetness and fine tannins. Cellaring potential is five years.
