Secco Rondinella Corvina
Wine
Freeman Vineyards Secco Rondinella Corvina leads the Freeman offering, an Italian inspired red blend sourced from Australia's only plantings of Rondinella and Corvina.
The wine aims to reflect the traditional Ripasso and Amarone style of Italian wines, while retaining characteristic Australian fruit driven flavour. The fruit is handpicked.
A selection of the grapes are dried slowly on prune racks for up to 10 days, then mixed with fresh fruit for fermentation. The varieties are fermented separately and remain separate for maturation in seasoned oak barrels.
After two years, the wine is blended and bottled. It is then cellared at 14°C for a further two years to allow the intense young tannins to soften and integrate before release.
Deep dark red, Freeman Vineyards Secco Rondinella Corvina is savoury, complex and textural with a soft tannin frame and balancing acid. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
