Winery
Craiglee was first planted at Sunbury in the 1860s, from which time the bluestone winery still stands. However, the vineyard fell into disuse until it was replanted in 1976, by new owners Pat and Dianne Carmody.
The chance discovery of a cache of 1872 Shiraz at the long abandoned winery saw the vineyard brought back to life. As John Brown of Milawa fame put it, “Any site anywhere in the world that can produce a wine that lasts for 100 years is worth being replanted.” Craiglee is the remarkable story of a once thriving vineyard’s unique terroir finally claiming victory.
Craiglee is considered one of Australia's leading cool climate red wine producers. Their reputation is founded on their Shiraz. They also produce noteworthy Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Viognier.
