Wine

Craiglee Shiraz is regarded as one of Australia's best cool climate Shirazes. It is grown in the estate vineyard at Sunbury in Victoria. Its origins are one of the great Australian wine stories.

A cache of 1872 Craiglee Shiraz, then a 100 years old, was opened in the early 1970s at a function in Melbourne – and it immediately became clear the Craiglee vineyard was an outstanding site.

Patrick Carmody, who managed what was then the family farm, replanted the neglected vineyard in 1976. This now iconic wine was released in 1982, the re-opened winery's first commercial release.

The fruit is handpicked from hand tended vines. Natural fermentation occurs in open cement fermenters, with a small parcel barrel fermented. The wine is transferred to French and American oak to age for 12-15 months.

Purple red, Craiglee Shiraz is aromatic, with dark fruit and pepper flavours. Its firm, chalky tannins deliver an exceptional finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
