The Lindner family established St Hallett on the banks of the Para River in 1944. During the 1980s Vine Pull Scheme St Hallett stood firm with other winery families to save the Barossa's old vines.

A rich resource of old vine Shiraz, and long term relationships with growers, provide the fruit for their wines. St Hallett's first vintage of Old Block Shiraz in 1980 led the way. To qualify for Old Block, fruit must come from vineyards planted on their own rootstock. There is not a vineyard younger than 80 years included in the blend. By tailoring fermentation and maturation to individual parcels, St Hallett reveal rich textures, depth and diversity in their wines.

St Hallett is an enduring Barossa icon. Their Old Block Shiraz and 1919 Planted Shiraz lead a long line of wines made from their signature variety. The Blackwell and Mattschoss Shiraz follow.
