At the Winery
Winery
Established in 2000 after years looking for the perfect Yarra Valley site, Medhurst is the result of Ross and Robyn Wilson's long held wish to produce quality wines at their own property. Prior to Medhurst, Ross Wilson was the CEO of Southcorp.
The award winning winery, by Folk Architects, was built in 2011. It features underground barrel storage and sits in harmony with its hillside setting. With its cool climate, north facing slopes and excellent drainage the Medhurst vineyard provides ideal growing conditions. It is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and, most recently, Sauvignon Blanc. Careful management ensures low yields; the wines express the site and season. Winemaker Simon Steele is from Brokenwood.
Medhurst's Reserve wines are made in limited quantities from select vineyard rows. The Estate range – including a Rosé made from Cabernet and Shiraz – is single vineyard. The Yarra Valley range is for everyday drinking.
