Winery
One of the early grape growers in the Barossa Valley, the Glaetzer family emigrated from Germany in 1888 and settled near the town of Nuriootpa. A century later, Colin Glaetzer established Glaetzer Wines. His son Ben is now in charge.
Exceptional fruit from a loyal group of fourth and fifth generation Barossa grape growers is the backbone of Glaetzer Wines. All fruit is sourced from dry grown vineyards in Ebenezer in the Barossa Valley's north. The well drained sandy clay loam over limestone encourages deep roots and is ideal for Shiraz. The best fruit comes from very old, low yielding bush vines which produce full, intensely flavoured wines.
Glaetzer Wines make premium Barossa reds. The Eye of Ra Shiraz is made only in special years. The flagship is Amon-Ra Shiraz. Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet, Bishop Shiraz and Wallace Shiraz Grenache form the regular line-up.
