At the Winery
Winery
Named after Lieutenant Colonel Houghton, Houghton was established in 1836, just four years after the colony of Western Australia was founded. Today under Accolade ownership, Houghton shares a cellar door with Brookland Valley.
In 2019, ending a winemaking era that began in the Swan Valley 180 years earlier, Houghton moved its entire wine production to its Nannup base halfway between Margaret River and Frankland River, where Houghton sources most of its grapes. Houghton captured the nation's attention in 1937 when winemaker Jack Mann created Houghton White Burgundy. Still popular today, it is sold alongside Houghton's award winning Cabernets.
Jack Mann Cabernet Sauvignon is Houghton's lead wine. C.W. Ferguson Cabernet Malbec and Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon follow at the top of the range. The Small Batch, Crofters and Stripe ranges complete the picture.
