At the Winery
Winery
Jim and Nancy Barry established the Jim Barry winery in 1959. In 1985, their second son Peter took over. Peter's children, third generation winemaker Tom, commercial manager Sam and brand ambassador Olivia have since joined the business.
Jim Barry believes great wine is made in the vineyard. They own a mosaic of vineyards across the Clare Valley, including Florita and Watervale at the southern end, Lodge Hill in the eastern ranges and the Armagh to the west. Each site is unique in soil and aspect. Their Coonawarra vineyard grows Cabernet Sauvignon in terra rossa soils. All fruit is sourced from estate owned vineyards, ensuring Jim Barry has control from vineyard to bottle.
Jim Barry's reputation is founded on The Armagh Shiraz. Also known for Riesling, highlights are the Loosen Barry Wolta Wolta and The Florita Rieslings. The Lodge Hill and Watervale Rieslings represent great value.
