French Champagne house Moët & Chandon established Chandon in 1986, alongside estates in Argentina, Brazil and California. They chose a Yarra Valley dairy farm named Green Point with the right climate and soil for Champagne varieties.
Though Chandon's Australian home is the Yarra Valley, they also have vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges and Whitlands in the King Valley, and they work with over growers from other cool climate regions. The varied microclimates contribute to elegant sparkling wines, focusing on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Each wine is made in the méthode traditionnelle – the traditional French practice developed in Champagne.
Chandon is the only Australian sparkling specialist with genuine French heritage. They make a wide range of benchmark sparkling wines, all aged in bottle for at least 12 months. The Late Disgorged wines are the finest.
