Blue Pyrenees, one of Australia's first wineries to foray into cool climate viticulture, was established by French company Remy Martin in 1963. It was purchased by Sydney businessmen John Ellis and Bill Anderson in 2002.

The vineyards are at 400 metres elevation in the foothills of the Pyrenees range in central Victoria. The altitude and southerly ocean winds moderate temperatures, while undulations of the land usher cool air down the slopes. With ample amounts of sunshine, the site is warm enough to build flavour concentration, yet cool enough to deliver elegance. The gravelly soils, reminiscent of Bordeaux, are well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot.

Blue Pyrenees has earned a reputation for its red wines. The Richardson Reserve range leads the way with a Cabernet and Shiraz. The Estate Red and Section One Shiraz are other highlights.
