Section One Shiraz
Wine
Blue Pyrenees Section One Shiraz draws from the winery's oldest Shiraz vines: Section 1 of their vineyard in the Pyrenees. These robust old vines exhibit strong regional and varietal characters.
Though mostly Shiraz, tiny portions of Viognier and/or Cabernet Sauvignon are included in some years. The grapes are co-fermented in a mix of open and closed fermenters.
Gentle pressing extracts colour, flavour and natural tannin from the skins. The wine is then settled for a few days before it is racked to French and American oak barrels, ranging from new to four years old.
After malolactic fermentation and 24 months of maturation, the finest barrels are selected for the final blend. The wine is lightly fined prior to bottling.
Ruby red, Blue Pyrenees Section One Shiraz is medium bodied with vibrant dark fruit flavours, toasty oak and a firm, spicy tannin finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
