At the Winery

In 1987 David and Cheryl Clarke (née Thorn) bought their Kabininge property, starting the sixth generation of a Barossa winegrowing heritage. After initially just selling the fruit, in 1998 they made Thorn-Clarke's first wines.
Today Thorn-Clarke are custodians of four vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The diversity of elevation, aspect and soils allow them to match the right grape variety to the conditions, eliciting each variety's character. The Barossa vineyards are planted mainly to Shiraz while the Eden Valley vineyards are divided by altitude: white varieties higher up and cool climate red varieties lower down.
Thorn-Clarke's Ron Thorn Shiraz and William Randell wines, made in a Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, lead the way. The Single Vineyard, Shotfire and Sandpiper ranges follow.
