Ron Thorn Barossa Shiraz
Wine
Thorn-Clarke Ron Thorn Barossa Shiraz is named after winery co-owner Cheryl Clarke's father. It is made with the best fruit from the estate St Kitts vineyard in the northern Barossa Valley.
The fruit is inspected daily on the vine to ensure it is picked at optimum ripeness. After harvest, it is destemmed into open fermenters and inoculated with a Shiraz specific yeast.
Post ferment, the wine remains on skins for around a week before being pressed and filled to new American oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. Once complete it is racked and returned to the same barrels to age.
The wine develops in barrel for 20 months, then for a further six months in bottle prior to release. It is produced only in exceptional years.
Inky red purple, Thorn-Clarke Ron Thorn Barossa Shiraz has intense dark fruit flavours with smoky, spicy undertones and firm tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
