At the Winery
Winery
Mount Horrocks was purchased by winemaker Stephanie Toole in 1993. She set about renovating Auburn's old railway station and in 1998 it opened as the winery's cellar door. Acquiring land at Watervale she began planting her own vineyards.
Mount Horrocks use only organic, estate grown fruit. Strikingly beautiful and isolated, their Alexander Vineyard at the extreme north-eastern corner of Watervale in the Clare Valley grows most of the grapes, while the Cordon Cut Vineyard in the warmer Auburn district was specifically planted to produce their richer Cordon Cut Riesling. Stephanie Toole's no compromise approach to winemaking ensures each wine exhibits varietal and site specific character.
Mount Horrocks restricts annual production to a few thousand cases to ensure quality. Alexander Vineyard Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, Watervale Riesling and Cordon Cut Riesling are highlights.
