Watervale Riesling
Wine
Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling is sourced from the winery's Alexander Vineyard in the north-eastern corner of Watervale, on the very edge of highly prized red soils over limestone.
The vineyard, surrounded by open land where cattle graze, is organically managed. With its south facing, high altitude location it is well suited to Riesling.
The entire crop is hand harvested in just two days, at the critical point of ripeness. Every few hours a small truck shuttles the freshly picked grapes to the winery. The fruit then has its stalks removed and is gently crushed.
The free run portion of the juice is separated, and only this portion is used to make the wine. The wine does not require fining or acid additions.
Pale lime green, Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling is at once juicy and tangy with crisp citrus flavours, slaty minerality and a cleansing finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
