Nero d'Avola
Wine
Mount Horrocks Nero d'Avola is drawn from the winery's Alexander Vineyard at Watervale in the Clare Valley, home to some of the earliest plantings of Nero d'Avola in Australia.
The fruit is handpicked at full ripeness, then cold soaked. Fermentation takes place over nine days with daily gentle plunging to extract the ideal level of colour, flavour and tannin.
The wine is racked to French oak barrels, just a small proportion new maintain juicy characters. After 12-18 months of maturation the wine is bottled and aged further prior to release.
Vibrant red, Mount Horrocks Nero d’Avola bursts with red berry flavours, underpinned by gentle tannins, lively spice and a savoury edge. Cellaring potential is five years.
