Longview was established in 1995. Today it is owned by brothers Mark and Peter Saturno, who in 2007 left their bustling lives in New York City for Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills, taking up the challenge of producing cool climate wines.
Longview lies on undulating slopes on the Mount Lofty Ranges' south-eastern ridge. Its southerly location makes it warmer than the rest of the Adelaide Hills, but with its altitude and influences from the Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina, it remains a cool climate site. The Saturno brothers have infused Longview with an Italian accent, adding northern Italian varieties Nebbiolo and Barbera to more classical plantings of Shiraz, Cabernet and Riesling.
Longview's lead wine is The Piece Shiraz. Other highlights include the Saturnus Nebbiolo (from the oldest Nebbiolo plantings in South Australia) and the premium Macclesfield range.
