S.C. Pannell

When a winemaker at Hardys Stephen Pannell gained intimate knowledge of McLaren Vale's vineyards. Inspired by their ability to produce sustainable, dry grown Shiraz and Grenache, he founded S.C. Pannell with his wife Fiona in 2004.

Stephen Pannell believes that the vineyard and a sense of place is utmost. The original S.C. Pannell vineyard has low yielding McLaren Vale vines dating back to the 1890s. However Koomilya is his spiritual home. It is the McLaren Vale vineyard he first encountered at Hardys and coveted for many years before purchasing it in 2012. For their aromatic white wines, cool climate Syrah, and Nebbiolo, S.C. Pannell turns to the Adelaide Hills.

S.C. Pannell's Koomilya wines, though they are not made every year, are the flagships. Other highlights include Clarendon Smart and McLaren Vale Old McDonald Grenache, as well as a selection of Mediterranean varieties.
