Winery
In 1976, David and Catherine Lance established their vineyard in the hamlet of St Andrews in the Yarra Valley. In 2005 son James and his wife Claire took over the vineyard and made their own mark, founding Punch.
The vineyard sits at 280 metres elevation in a natural amphitheatre, capturing sunlight without excessive heat. The thin, rocky soils grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. A tiny plot of the Pinot Noir is close planted, producing highly expressive fruit. In the vineyard Punch use organic and holistic systems based on both science and experience, and hand dress, prune and harvest the vines. In the winery they use minimal interventions.
Punch's Close Planted Pinot Noir leads, followed by the estate grown Lance's Vineyard wines. The Friends of Punch range, sourced from other local vineyards, allows the winery to tell different stories.
