Lance's Vineyard Close Planted Pinot Noir
Wine
Punch Lance's Vineyard Close Planted Pinot Noir is grown on a tiny plot of the estate vineyard – just 0.25 hectares – overlooking Diamond Creek at St Andrews in the Yarra Valley.
Very high density plantings and extremely intensive viticulture produce powerful, expressive fruit. The vines are pruned, dressed and harvested by hand.
A proportion of the fruit is kept as whole bunches for fermentation, which takes place without added yeast. The ferments are foot stomped and spend 2-3 weeks on skins before they are sent to predominantly new French oak barrels.
After nine months of maturation, the wine is bottled on site without fining or filtration. It is only made in very limited quantities.
Bright crimson, Punch Lance's Vineyard Close Planted Pinot Noir is packed with dark fruits, spice and long satiny tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
