Wine
Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache harks back to the 1950s when Penfolds started experimenting with blends of Shiraz and the robust grape variety Mourvèdre (Mataro).
The wine takes its inspiration from the wines of the Southern Rhône. It is made from century old, low yielding Barossa Valley vines.
The wine matures for 12-15 months in seasoned French and American oak. The absence of new oak allows the different varietals to shine through. It is blended just prior to bottling.
Deep purple, Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache is medium to full bodied with subtle yet rich flavours coercing its blocky Barossa tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
