Winery
Ox Hardy is the vision Andrew 'Ox' Hardy. After making and cellaring wines from his family's historic Upper Tintara Vineyard for two decades, Andrew released the first Ox Hardy wine in 2019.
Ox Hardy represents a rare combination of vineyard, history and winemaking provenance. The Upper Tintara Vineyard in McLaren Vale is one of Australia's most important viticultural assets, containing a 2.54 hectare block of 1891 Ancestor vines and ancient slate fermenters that went unused for 95 years before Andrew Hardy made his first Slate Shiraz in 2018. Ox Hardy's style is best described as minimalist, allowing the quality of the vineyard and its fruit to shine through.
The leading 1891 Ancestor Vine Shiraz is made in such tiny quantities that originally Andrew Hardy said it was "a bit like ripping up $100 bills in the shower". The Slate Shiraz also stands out.
