Despite growing up in the Yarra Valley, Mac Forbes began his winemaking in south-west France. He returned to Australia in 2004 and established Mac Forbes at Healesville in the Yarra Valley.

Mac Forbes source Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from estate vineyards at Woori Yallock, Hoddles Creek and Gladysdale. By treating blocks individually, they produce wines true to both place and vintage. Their wines are the lens through which they tell the story of their region. They also source Riesling from the cool, elevated Strathbogie Ranges. Mac Forbes produce an array of ranges, each expressing a different facet of the Yarra Valley.

Their Single Vineyard wines feature the best, most individual parcels of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir they farm in the Yarra Valley. Each bears the name of its vineyard on its label.
