Flaxman Wines

Purchasing a small vineyard overlooking Flaxmans Valley, builder turned winemaker Colin Sheppard and his wife Fiona left Melbourne to pursue their passion for wine, establishing Flaxman Wines in 2004.

Atop the Barossa Ranges, Flaxman's home vineyard was first planted in 1929 to Shiraz, Riesling and Semillon. Working with local growers, they also source outstanding parcels of Grenache and Mataro from the Barossa Valley, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from the Eden Valley. Keeping yields low, the Sheppards treat their vineyard like a garden, hand pruning and picking the vines with a small team of friends.

A boutique producer, Flaxman Wines are made only in small quantities. Highlights include their Reserve Cabernet, Shhh Cabernet and Estate Shiraz. Their Mataro and Estate Riesling are also notable.
