Giorgio and Dianne Gjergja purchased Kooyong in 1998 and produced their first vintage in 2001. Their landmark building, designed by Wood Marsh Architects as the home of both Kooyong and Port Phillip Estate, opened in 2009.

At 100 metres above sea level, the vineyards feel the cool maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula. With infertile but free draining sedimentary soil they are naturally low yielding. Kooyong practices permaculture to improve vine health, foregoing chemicals for compost and mulch. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay predominate. Kooyong wines are made at the Port Phillip Estate winery. All wines are entirely domain grown, vinified and bottled.

Kooyong produce their lead Single Block range from the best fruit from each vineyard. The remaining quality parcels go into the Estate range. The rest are blended to make Massale Pinot Noir and Clonale Chardonnay.
