Faultline Chardonnay
Wine
Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay draws from a small patch in the Faultline Block. With more clay and less ironstone than the Farrago Block, it produces richer wines.
The handpicked grapes are gently whole bunch pressed directly to French oak barrels, a small portion new. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with ambient yeasts.
The wine matures on lees in barrel for 12 months without bâtonnage (stirring on lees). It is racked once immediately prior to bottling, which takes place with no fining and only minimal filtration.
Pale straw, Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay has citrus and stone fruit flavours with hallmark salty acidity on the finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
