At the Winery
Winery
In 1987, a century after the Follett grower family planted grapevines at their Langhorne Creek property, Ken and Marlene Follett started a new chapter, deciding to make their own wine. Lake Breeze was born.
The vineyard lies on the banks of the Bremer River, surrounded by river red gums. Dry grown, the vines depend on the annual Bremer winter flooding to soak the soils, sustaining them through the hot summers. Cool afternoon breezes from Lake Alexandrina foster a surprisingly cool climate, ensuring a long, even ripening period. Lake Breeze select the best parcels, selling the rest. At the winery minimal intervention prevails.
Lake Breeze are best known for their full bodied reds. Highlights include The Drake, a classic Australian Cabernet Shiraz, and Arthur's Reserve, a Cabernet blend. There is some good buying to be had.
